Zoo-phonics was developed by two teachers and an illustrator with an accent on reinforcement through the multi-modal approach. Hidden Picture Aviary: Reinforces recognition of the animal characters and their relationship to lowercase letters as children search for and discover animal friends in the "merged Animal/letter" form hidden in the Aviary. Robby Rabbit's Matching Pairs: Provides matching activity for children to practice Signals and Sounds by matching animal characters, merged Animal/letters or lowercase letters. Make It Say: Children begin to spell consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words like "cat" word families with the help of Inny Inchworm. The Word Search Beehive: Teaches recognition of CVC words with helpful arrows which list the words to be discovered in the hive.

The Shipwreck Fishpond: Uncovers the mystery of capital letters. When a child places a lowercase letter into the 'Capitaliphone', it emerges as a capital letter with its very own special signal. The
Zoo Train Mix-up: Provides
an activity for children to review what they have learned. Children
gather objects, animal characters, merged Animal/letters or lowercase
letters with the same initial sound as the object and load them
into train cars. The Penguin Pond Word Order: Children help Zoophonia sort out words and place them in the correct order to form a sentence. |

 Read and Spell with Zoo-phonics CD-ROM with Teaching Guide VTech and Zoo-phonics have pooled their talents to create a CD-ROM that is both entertaining and educational. Meet Zoophonia, Zeke Zebra and all of the Animals, as they teach children the Shapes, Sounds and Signals of the lower and uppercase alphabet, VC/CVC words and blends. In a short time, children will begin to read and spell. The children get to know each Zoo-phonics Animal; they learn the Body Signals and the Zoo-phonics song, and then they can print out and color the Animal. Reading in a library setting is included. There are 15 activities, and in every activity, there are 10 to 15 games. Each game and activity become a little more challenging, yet always encourages and instructs the young reader.
